How do standard equipment trailers compare to gooseneck trailers? The short answer is the trailer's coupler and tongue; a gooseneck is not a tag-along trailer. Goosenecks are built to couple over the rear axle of the towing vehicle, resulting in more maneuverability and stability. This is because the weight of the haul is distributed over the tow vehicle’s rear axle instead of behind it.
